The Muddy Charles Pub has been present on the MIT campus since 1968, where it has welcomed everyone from Nobel Laureates to graduate students, played host to entrepreneurs and their start-ups, and enjoyed global exposure. Most of the patrons are MIT graduate students and prices are kept affordable for them.

Reminder: the Pub is only open to MIT affiliates. This includes friends, family, etc. of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Be sure to bring a MIT ID and an ID showing proof of age (21+ only). Accepted forms of 21+ ID are passport and US ID card (e.g. US driver’s license, MA liquor ID, US Military ID).

The Pub is currently open on a reservation-only basis. Reservations must comply with the rules below, and can be made here.
  • The person making the reservation must have MIT access via COVID pass and all guests must show MIT ID at the door.
  • The person on the reservation is responsible for informing all other table members of the strict ID-ing policy, and must be present for the party to be seated.
  • All bookings must be made at least 1 day (24 hrs) in advance.
  • All reservations are set to start at 5 PM, although parties may plan to show up anytime between 5-7 PM (this will cut down on your time in the pub).
  • We will not be able to accommodate more guests than you put down as your party size.
